This deep black loaf cake has an intense chocolate flavour and is ideal as both a dessert or snack at teatime! Made with Van Houten black cocoa powder, the rich flavours are a perfect match with the sweet, buttery white chocolate chips.

This deep black loaf cake made with Van Houten black cocoa powder has an intense chocolate flavour and is ideal as both a dessert or snack at teatime! The rich flavours are a perfect match with the Callebaut white chocolate chips.

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 160°C and grease a 900g loaf tin using butter
  • Mix together the butter and sugar until pale
  • Add the flour, black cocoa powder, baking powder, ground almonds and xanthan gum and mix unitl a paste is formed
  • Add the egg, milk and vanilla and stir until fully combined
  • Add the chocolate and mix until dispersed
  • Pour the batter into the loaf tin and bake for 40-50 minutes
  • After 40 minutes test with a skewer

Notes

Once baked, take loaf out of the oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Once fully cooled, store in an airtight container.
